We met up with some friends at Rosa Mexicano the other day. It wasn’t busy at all and we got seated right away on their patio. I’ve been to their DC location a few times so I knew what to expect. However, I thought they were going to prepare the guacamole tableside, but when we ordered it they just brought it out after it was prepared elsewhere. As usual, the guac was very good, prepared to your desired level of spiciness and served in a molcajete. When I dined at the DC location they provided soft tortillas with the guac, but at this location they only gave us tortilla chips. We also tried the mole blanco, two corn tortillas filled with tomato-chipotle beef and topped with a sweet corn and pine nut mole. Despite it being a mild dish the beef had a rich savory flavor. The sangria was good, but not very strong. Don’t expect the food to be authentic, it’s more like a fusion of modern Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Cali-Mex food. But it’s worth a stop if you’re in the area.
