Before heading to the airport I wanted to stop by Teacake since my sister said they have some of the better cupcakes around. I’m not familiar with the area, but Teacake is located in a big outdoor mall with many of the chain restaurants and stores you can find in a million other cities. So, it was a pleasant surprise to see a locally owned shop thriving among the corporate giants.
In the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday the line of customers was out the door. It didn’t take long for it to advance and based on the displays scattered around the store we didn’t hesitate ordering.
– pumpkin cupcake: excellent, rich, soft, moist, perfect amount of pumpkin flavor
– apple crumble: another excellent cupcake with pieces of apple in the cake
– vanilla: good but nothing special
– choc. chip cookie: soft, warm, and moist, but too sugary and not enough chocolate chunks
So, the final tally is this… 2 cupcakes that I would love to eat again and 2 other items that I would not recommend. If I’m in the area again I’d gladly hit this place up again.
