Our friends, who live in the area, went on and on about how amazing the happy hour at Oliverio was. They said it was the best value for any HH in the area. So, of course we make our way there only to find out that they’ve changed it — the prices went up and the menu changed. Appetizers that were previously $3 each had risen to $6. Although, that’s still not a bad deal. And, the $3 burger that my friends raved about was no longer available.
Most of the items ordered were decent, but nothing that would amaze you. The pizza crust on their pizza napoletana was light and crispy with just the right amount of chewiness. The arugula salad was a a light and healthy bite to eat. The bruschetta came four to an order and was topped with tomatoes, basil and onions — my favorite app of the night. Others in our party were less impressed with the seafood ceviche or chicken skewers.
Beer and wine are $4 during happy hour and they have four specialty cocktails for $5. I only tried the oyster stout from Porterhouse Brewing Company, which was excellent. It had a chocolate and malt aroma with a creamy, smooth, and slightly bitter taste.
The best thing about their happy hour was being able to lounge around in one of the poolside cabanas. It may be a relatively small area, but it’s still a great way to enjoy the weather and have some cheap eats.
