Thank you LudoTruck for making your way out to Vegas for the South Point Gourmet Food Truck Festival (11/5/11). This was the second truck I stopped at and it gave me a chance to try the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I am, by no means, a connoisseur of this southern delicacy. It’s something I hardly eat and if I do it’s usual from a drive-thru. But, with that disclaimer, I’ll still say that it’s something that shouldn’t be missed.
The provencal chicken ($8) was an order of two large pieces of juicy, boneless chicken infused with rosemary and herbs de provence. The exterior, while a bit thick and heavily breaded, was amazingly crispy and flavorful. Throw in a bearnaise dipping sauce and what you’ve got is a dish that puts the colonel’s 11 herbs and spices to shame.
The one thing that confused me was the price. Reading other reviews, it seems like $6 is the normal price for the two-piece chicken dish (w/ coleslaw and no fries), but at this event it was $8. Somebody needs to explain that to me.
