I’m a sucker for food trucks. Despite the fact that it takes longer to get food at food trucks than it does at most sit-down restaurants, I’m still willing to endure long waits to sample “upscale” eats. This event was a dream come true — not only did it have most of Las Vegas’s top trucks, it also had several popular trucks from California and Colorado.

Held in a spacious parking lot across the street from the South Point Casino, it was well organized and didn’t feel too crowded despite all the long lines. There was plenty of room to move around and a few tables to grab a seat and eat. Most lines were about half an hour long or longer. Not outrageous wait times, but long enough to make me grab my food when my order was up and head straight to another truck’s line to place my next order. Nothing wrong with eating in line.

After only three trucks I was stuffed. I missed out on a few others that looked promising, but don’t regret the three I tried: The Chairman Truck, LudoTruck, and Coolhaus.

There was plenty of parking at South Point but by 3:30-4 it was a clusterfuck trying to get out. If this turns out to be an annual event (and I hope it is) I’ll have to park somewhere other than their parking garage.
