Paymon’s has been one of the most popular Mediterranean eateries in town for years. But, it wasn’t until a week ago that I finally went in to try it. I can’t complain about the food… everything was pretty good. The two dips (hummus and cucumber yogurt, $5.75) to start the meal were both excellent. The deliciously crispy falafels ($6.95) come five to an order sitting on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The steak kabob ($15.95) was plenty for two to share. The quality of the meat was above average and correctly cooked to the requested temp. It didn’t come with Basmati rice, but did have rice pilaf that had a wonderful butteriness to it.

Their menu is ridiculously large with cuisines including Italian, Mediterranean, Persian, Greek, and Indian. In my opinion they’d be better off with a more focused menu, but I guess they have to do what they can to attract the most customers. They even have a kid’s menu with all the typical kid stuff.

The interior was comfortable enough, although it looks dated mostly due to tables and chairs reminiscent of a cheap diner. It may have taken me a while for my first visit, but the reasonable prices, diverse, and well executed food make Paymon’s a good option for a family night out.
