Driving to California from Vegas means that if I’m hungry I have to stop in Barstow for the best food mid-trip. A quick search on Yelp turned up this place. It’s a small restaurant in a strip mall where you order at the register and they bring out your food. The place was nicely decorated with Latin-themed paintings, sculptures, and colors. The carnitas were excellent. Consisting of fried chunks of pork, a few tortillas, rice and beans, it was a great find and satisfying meal to fuel me for the rest of the trip. The Chicken flauta was huge — similar in size to a burrito or chimichanga — with a crispy exterior. The only negative was the rather dry chicken inside. The rest of the menu looked great and might warrant a return trip the next time I’m looking to grub on my way to or from California.
