After hanging out at the beach on a weekday, we walked around and had lunch here. It’s several blocks away from the beach so it wasn’t nearly as crowded as other restaurants. The dark wood interior gives it a rustic and comfortable quality and the large booths were perfect for unwinding.
The Lumberyard might have one of the best kid’s menus around. Where else can little ones order a petite filet with green beans and mashed potatoes? The tender filet was perfect for satisfying my kid’s appetite. I just wish he would have eaten the green beans.
For the adults, we had some decent fried calamari that suffered from a thin batter that barely clung to the squid. Slightly better was the ahi tartare with wonton chips. The highlight of the meal was their signature burger. The well seasoned and savory patty was topped with bleu cheese, caramelized onions, Swiss, bacon and mushrooms. The bun was equally as excellent and a perfect compliment in texture and ratio to the beef. The fries weren’t bad either.
It may not be the sexiest restaurant, but it did have enough hearty and tasty dishes to tide us over.
