My short stay in Laughlin ended with the best meal of our trip. Bumbleberry Flats, in the western-themed Pioneer hotel, served up excellent comfort food in large quantities and reasonable prices. Their menu spans breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner — all available at any time of day. With plenty of options, it took our party a while to decide what to order.

A build-your-own breakfast platter with plate-sized pancakes was shared by two in our party. The bacon bleu cheeseburger was a well proportioned burger, made up of plenty of bacon and cheese, a thick, juicy patty, and a delicious eggy bun. THe chicken and waffle dish consisted of a crispy and light bacon waffle topped with half a chicken (wing, thigh, breast, drumstick) coated in a course, crunchy, and peppery exterior. The dish was served with a spicy honey sauce. The Brussels sprouts were too firm for my liking and could have benefitted from being cooked longer.

The majority of their desserts are made in house and are in full display as you walk in. I’m a sucker for pecan pie and had to order theirs. They warm it up, but in the process almost burnt all the pecans on top. The heat made the filling liquefy and crust fall, turning it into a sloppy mess — topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was decent, but I expected better based on how good their other food was.

With amazingly friendly and efficient service and delicious comfort food, it’s a lock I’ll be back to try more of their menu the next time I’m in town.
