Located in the Golden Nugget in Laughlin, Saltgrass is a Texas-themed steakhouse, part of Landry’s, the same company that owns Chart House and Rainforest Cafe. It’s a casual place that takes a safe approach to food — comfort and American classics make up most of the menu. The food hits the mark in execution and will satisfy most. They know their niche and there’s no need for them to push the boundaries or experiment.
The artichoke dip easily could have been of the pre-packaged, frozen variety. Crab cakes came two per order. Deep fried mounds with a sauce with notes of sweet and tangy and a touch of heat, topped with a few pieces of jumbo lump meat. The char and seasoning on the 12 oz. “Pat’s Ribeye” was very good. A solid steak all around for the price point. Accompanying it was a loaded baked potato hearty enough to prevent me from ordering dessert.
