If you want a fancy, sit-down meal while at the San Diego Zoo, this is the place. It’s pricey but the food is clearly superior to everything else you’ll find at the zoo. It’s best to either get a reservation or get there when they first open because the place fills up fast.
The atmosphere is cool. It’s an elevated structure built amongst the trees to give you the impression that you’re dining in a giant treehouse. They have an indoor dining area and a patio.
The menu has a bit of everything — pasta, pizza, salads, sandwiches, salads, and larger entrees.
Some decent sandwiches fill the menu like a bacon chicken grilled sandwich topped with Irish white cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes and onions along with a hefty stack of crispy beer-battered fries. Another option is the massive pulled pork torta with a guacamole spread that had just enough heat. Unless you’re starving think about sharing this one. I barely ate half of it.
Also on the menu are pastas, pizzas, salads and larger entrees. They do have a kid’s menu and wine, beer, and cocktails.
It’s a solid destination especially if you have the time to sit, relax and have a longer meal while at the zoo.
