This western-themed gastropub in Page, AZ offers more than just American fare. The modern menu also has Italian, Asian, and Mexican influences. Unfortunately, the execution could be better. The beet salad ($7, half order) suffered from too much of the lemon basil vinaigrette and not enough beets or goat cheese. The patty in the Cowboy burger ($12) looked and tasted like a generic frozen patty from the grocery store.
I did, however, love the 3 Little Pigs sandwich ($12). With three different types of pork along with goat cheese and mustard on sourdough, it was a great combination of flavors. There was the tanginess of the BBQ pulled pork, the savoriness of the pork belly and the saltiness of the prosciutto. Each was was good, but together it was excellent blend of unique flavors.
With some fine tuning, State 48 Tavern could be a must-visit for anyone traveling or living in Page.
