What’s a beer garage? apparently it’s a restaurant with a car inside. South Rims Wine and Beer Garage has a real ’67 Pontiac GTO right inside the front door. It’s a thing of beauty but a shame that no one gets to drive it.
The restaurant has several sections to it. There’s the front patio, the inside bar, a gift shop display, another bar and dining room, and an enclosed patio.
The food wasn’t bad. Crab cakes ($12.66) were meaty and well seasoned, mac and cheese ($5.66) used house-made pasta, pretzels ($8.66) were pure buttery, chewy, salty goodness, and the accompanying cheese sauce was a perfect match. The wedge salad ($8.66) was nothing ground breaking, but it was nicely plated. To end the meal we had a pizookie ($6.50). The cookie was somewhat bland, but my kid still enjoyed it.
Wine flights are available for $11.66 and beer flights for $8.66. Their craft brew list was dominated by ales and IPAs. I would have preferred a few more stouts and porters on the list. But, the four beers I sampled were pretty good.
