Any good Catholic would love the wall of rosaries adorning one of the walls inside La Comida. Maybe my prayers for good food and good service were answered because the carnitas tacos ($11) were surprisingly good. Using diced up morsels of pork instead of pulled pork, the flavors were excellent and I loved the crispy edges that gave it some textural contrast. Margaritas were as good as expected and the flan de caramelo ($6) was a little too firm, but still smooth and velvety with a crystallized sugary top like a creme brûlée.

Created by Michael Morton, who also established La Cave and Crush, La Comida successfully brings quality Mexican food and a cool atmosphere with unique design touches to east Fremont to add another good dining option to a popular neighborhood.
